Signage subtext

This sign, posted in the window of my hairstylist’s studio, might give you the impression that it was previously managed by someone else. Not true. Arthur, my fabulous hairstylist, is and always has been the only owner of A. Quinn. Locals know, however, that “Under New Management” refers to the fact that the location was previously, ahem, a “hair salon” that gave an “extremely gratifying massage”on the side. So, the next time you see these three seemingly innocent words in the window of an establishment in your neighborhood: “Under New Management” ask yourself: what are they trying to tell me?
