My background is in advertising but consumers don’t think in terms of advertising vs PR, or real-world vs digital. So I market and teach where the lines blur.
Whether I’m writing a press release or a Super Bowl spot, developing a campaign idea or an influencer marketing strategy, writing an Op Ed, ideating a pop-up, or a meme – I always ask the same question: what matters to the consumer? What’s the WHY of the tagline, the tweet, video, or advocacy program; the article, speech, crisis management plan, or website?
Once I know the WHY, I know what story is worth telling - that the consumer will want to retell.
