Every time I hear a client, account person or CMO say "I've got a great idea for a blog" or "I've rewritten this, I'm sure you don't mind", it's clear they think that even a monkey, given enough time, could probably do my job. I've been writing websites, print ads, TV spots, blogs, banners, widgets, things you put on walls, in the mailbox and in people's hands for 20 years. I've won an armload of awards. And helped clients sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of products and services. Yet, it seems, anyone can do what I do. Because in the blogosphere everyone is a writer. In fact, if you can put pen to paper, you, too, are probably qualified to do my job. Kill me now.
