When it comes to child marriage, the U.S. might as well be a third-world country. Each year 25,000 girls are forced into marriage. Why? Adults aren’t doing their job. They’re not standing up for girls’ rights.
The Solution: #UnitedStatesOfGirls combines Girl Power and Brand Power to create a campaign that: 1) helps girls stand up for themselves and 2) calls on adults to do the right thing.
Girl Power: #USGirls peer-to-peer program lets girls channel the needs of at-risk girls. The girls are in charge of #USGirls Centers which provide community outreach and a safe space where girls in crisis can learn their rights and create their own financially independent future.
Brand Power: A strategic partnership between UN Women and GoldieBlox, led by founder and CEO Debbie Sterling provides financial support and an influential platform to help spread the word.
